Monitoring page

Watch every wireless channel in your rig — RF, audio, link quality, and battery — on one live wall of channel cards, with recordable telemetry history you can scrub back through at any time.

The Monitoring page is a live device-monitoring wall. Every wireless microphone, IEM, and charger you’ve added to your zone appears as a channel card with real-time meters, and you can arrange those cards into tabs, color-code them, and click any card to review its telemetry history.

SoundBase renders cards natively for equipment from multiple manufacturers side by side, including Shure (Axient Digital, ULX-D, PSM1000), Sennheiser (EM6000, EW-DX, Spectera, CHG70N and L6000 chargers), Wisycom, and Sound Devices — each with a meter layout that matches the device.

Channels appear on the Monitoring page when you enable monitoring for them in the Devices drawer.

  1. Click the Devices button at the bottom right of the Monitoring page.
  2. The Device Channel Monitoring drawer opens, listing every device in the zone with its channels.
  3. Tick the monitoring checkbox next to each channel you want on the wall. A badge at the top of the drawer shows the live count of monitored channels (e.g. “12 channels”).
  4. Close the drawer when you’re done — cards appear on the current tab immediately.

Bulk options in the drawer:

  • View All — enables monitoring on every channel of every device in one batched operation.
  • Disable All — removes all channels currently monitored in this tab. A confirmation dialog (“Are you sure?”) appears first, because this affects the whole tab.
  • Shift-click a checkbox to toggle a whole range of channels at once, even across devices.

Each card streams live data from the device:

  • RF A/B levels with diversity indicators and peak hold. (Some systems show more than two RF paths.)
  • Audio level — mono or L/R depending on the device — with peaks.
  • Link quality (LQI).
  • Battery percentage and remaining runtime.
  • Transmitter info where the device reports it: mute state, power level, gain/offset, encryption, transmission mode, battery type, and lock state.
  • Frequency and channel name in the card’s header and footer.

The battery indicators below are rendered by the same component the application ships, so the states you see here always match the app:

Status indicators to know:

  • Interference: if interference is detected on a channel’s coordinated frequency, the frequency band on its card turns red.
  • Offline: unreachable devices dim to half opacity and the name band reads Offline.
  • Not linked: channels not linked to a coordinated frequency show a neutral tint and a Not linked to a frequency icon.
  • Pending changes: an orange warning icon appears when there are outbound changes queued for the device that haven’t been confirmed yet.

Three buttons on the bottom toolbar switch how the whole wall is displayed. These switches are available in SoundBase Desktop only.

  • Grid view — the dense meter grid. Best information density; supports free card placement, resizing, and zoom.
  • Cards view — larger photo/image cards, one per performer or channel. If you don’t see this button, make sure you’re on the latest version of SoundBase Desktop.
  • List View — a compact table, one row per channel.
  • Column visibility is configurable: show or hide the RF, Quality, Audio, Aux, and Battery columns (see Monitoring View Settings below). Your column choices are saved on your machine and restored next time.
  • Click any row to expand an inline telemetry area under it, with the same history charts, time-window selector, date picker, Record toggle, export, and storage controls as the card telemetry bar.
  • Audio display can be a scrolling timeline (audio over time) or a classic meter bar — set in Monitoring View Settings.
  • An optional group-color overlay tints each card with its coordination group’s color.
  • Cards show the channel’s photo or icon if one is set (see Colors & images).

Click the gear icon (Monitoring tab view settings) in the bottom-left button group to open the Monitoring View Settings modal. It has three tabs.

  • Snap to grid — on by default. Turn it off to place cards anywhere on the canvas (free placement). This setting is per tab, so one tab can be a tidy grid while another is a custom stage layout.
  • Show image on monitoring cards — displays each channel’s photo/icon on its grid card. If you don’t see this option, make sure you’re on the latest version of SoundBase Desktop.
  • Click card to solo in REAPER — when the REAPER integration is set up, a single click on a card solos its mapped REAPER track (see the Audio Monitoring guide).
  • Reset all card positions and sizes — clears every custom position and size for the zone and returns zoom to 100%. A confirmation dialog (Reset card positions?) appears first; confirm with Reset.
  • Audio display — choose Timeline (audio over time) or Meter bar for the audio section of Cards-view cards.
  • Use group color as image overlay — tints card images with the channel’s group color.
  • Click card to solo in REAPER — same setting as on the Grid View tab.

Checkboxes to show or hide the List View columns: RF, Quality, Audio, Aux, Battery.

  • Import Telemetry — opens a previously exported telemetry file for viewing (see Recording & storage). Desktop only.

All layout tools work in Grid view:

  • Reorder: drag any card to a new position.
  • Free placement: turn off Snap to grid (per tab) and drag cards anywhere. Positions are remembered per tab.
  • Resize: drag a card’s resize handle to give it extra height. You can also resize a whole selection at once (see below).
  • Zoom: the Zoom in / Zoom out buttons on the toolbar scale the grid in 10% steps, down to a minimum of 30%. Zoom is available in Grid view only.
  • Reset: Reset all card positions and sizes in Monitoring View Settings clears positions, sizes, and zoom in one click.
  • Sort: the Sort by… menu in the tab toolbar reorders the current tab’s cards: Sort by Name Asc/Desc, Sort by Frequency Asc/Desc, Sort by Device Asc/Desc, Sort by Model Asc/Desc.

Organize channels into as many named tabs as you like — per act, per band, per stage position. Tabs live per zone.

  1. Click the + button (Create new tab) at the bottom left. New tabs are named “Tab 1”, “Tab 2”, and so on (the built-in Default tab isn’t counted).
  2. Click the arrow on a tab to open its menu: Rename tab, Create Remote View from tab (Pro), a color preset picker (with a custom color option), and Delete tab.
  3. Drag tabs sideways to reorder them. Deleting a tab asks for confirmation (Delete this tab?).

Useful tab facts:

  • A channel can live on several tabs at once — enabling it while one tab is active adds it to that tab.
  • Each tab keeps its own layout: card order, free positions, and the Snap to grid setting are all per tab.
  • The Default tab always exists and can be renamed and recolored, but not deleted.

Click the External monitoring view button (the pop-out arrow icon) to open the monitoring wall in a second window. The external window keeps its own tab selection, so a second display can show a different tab than your main window — both stay live.

  • Marquee select: click and drag on empty canvas to rubber-band multiple cards.
  • Cmd/Ctrl-click a card to toggle it in or out of the selection.
  • Shift-click to extend the selection across a range.
  • Esc clears the selection.

While cards are selected, a floating widget appears at the bottom right showing the count (“5 selected”):

  • Custom — pick a preset color or open the full color picker to recolor every selected card.
  • Group — revert all selected cards to their coordination-group color.
  • Resizing one selected card resizes the whole selection together.
  • The X (Clear selection) closes the widget.

Note cards and blank “Other” cards can be recolored the same way — select them and use the widget.

  • Cards inherit their coordination group’s color automatically, so the wall mirrors your frequency plan.
  • Any channel can take a custom color override — via the bulk widget or the channel’s color control on the device setup page. Reverting to Group restores the inherited color.
  • Card images: open a channel’s image picker (Set Card Icon or Image) to either Pick an icon from the built-in library (microphones, lavaliers, headsets, guitars, strings, brass, woodwinds, speakers, antennas, and more) or upload a photo — PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, BMP, or SVG up to 16 MB. Images appear on grid cards (when Show image on monitoring cards is on) and in Cards view.

Put production notes right on the wall as markdown sticky notes:

  1. In Grid view, click the sticky-note button (Add note card) at the bottom left.
  2. Double-click the new note (or hover and click Edit note) to open the Edit Note Card editor — a full markdown editor with a formatting toolbar. Tables and other GitHub-style markdown are supported.
  3. Click Save.

Note cards drag, resize, and recolor like channel cards (use the selection widget for color). Delete one with the hover Delete note button — you’ll be asked to confirm.

Wired mics, playback rigs, and anything else without a network connection can still live on the wall:

  1. Click Blank Channel in the tab toolbar.
  2. In the Add Other Channel dialog, enter a Channel name (e.g. “Wired SM58 — Lectern”) and click Add.
  3. To edit later, open the card’s settings: you can change its Name, Description, and Color, or Delete it.

Other channels can be mapped to REAPER tracks and then show a live rolling audio timeline and solo button just like a real device channel — see the Audio Monitoring guide for mapping.

Click any channel card to open its telemetry bar — a strip of synced history mini-charts along the bottom of the wall (in List View, click a row to expand the same thing inline). Charts cover RF, link quality, audio (L/R), aux (gain and high-pass filter), mute, and battery, depending on what the device reports.

  • Time window: pick 1m, 5m, 15m, 1h, 4h, or 24h from the selector.
  • Drag to zoom: drag across any chart to zoom into a custom range; the selector then shows the custom duration.
  • Scrubber: drag the scrubber to move through history; all charts stay in sync.
  • Jump in time: use the calendar/time picker (it reads “Live” while following real time) to jump to a past moment or back to now.
  • Full Screen: opens the timeline in a large modal with the same controls.
  • Device connect/disconnect events are drawn on the charts, so you can see exactly when a device was online.

The timeline records telemetry data — meter and RF history — not audio. If you want to record actual audio, use the REAPER integration (see the Audio Monitoring guide).

Every channel’s telemetry bar has a Record switch:

  • Record off (default): only a rolling window of roughly 1.5 minutes of telemetry is kept for that channel. Scrubbing further back shows nothing.
  • Record on: telemetry is kept for 30 days. The retention period is fixed and not configurable.
  • Turning Record off later: everything captured while recording was on is preserved — only new data falls back to the 1.5-minute window.

All telemetry is stored locally on your machine (desktop app only); nothing is uploaded to the cloud.

  • Each project’s telemetry database is capped at 500 MB. A storage meter next to the scrubber shows current usage (e.g. “120 MB / 500 MB”) and turns red near the limit.
  • When the cap is exceeded, SoundBase automatically deletes the oldest data first until usage is comfortably under the limit. You don’t need to manage this manually — but very long shows with many recorded channels will lose their oldest history.

Click the menu next to the storage meter (Storage options):

  • Delete channel data (~MB shown)
  • Delete device data (~MB shown)
  • Delete project data (MB shown)

Each shows exactly how many MB will be freed and asks for confirmation. Deletion cannot be undone.

To hand the show’s RF log to someone else (or archive it):

  1. In the telemetry bar, click Export Data.
  2. Confirm in the Export Telemetry Data dialog. This exports all telemetry for the project into a single .sbcoordtline file (named like ProjectName-telemetry.sbcoordtline); a save dialog opens with your Downloads folder as the default location, and after saving, the file is revealed in Finder/Explorer.
  3. To view an exported file — on any machine, with no devices connected — click Import Telemetry (in the Monitoring View Settings modal footer, or in My Settings, below). The viewer lists the file’s devices, channels, and recorded time range, and gives you the same timeline charts. The original file is never modified.

Open your user menu → My Settings… → the Telemetry Data tab:

  • See every project that has local telemetry, with its size in MB, plus your total.
  • Select a project and delete just its data, or use Delete All Telemetry Data to wipe everything (with a confirmation showing the MB total).
  • The Import Telemetry button here opens .sbcoordtline files without visiting a monitoring page.

This tab is desktop-only; on the web it shows “Telemetry data management is only available in the desktop app.”

You can dock a live spectrum plot right next to any channel’s card:

  1. Open the Devices drawer.
  2. On the channel’s row, click the View spectrum toggle.
  3. A live spectrum analyzer plot appears beside the card, centered on that channel’s frequency. If the channel is linked to a coordinated frequency, the coordination band mask is overlaid so you can see the channel’s slice of spectrum at a glance.
  • Spectera mic+IEM pairs: linked Spectera mic and IEM sides merge onto a single card. Hover over the mic or IEM half to target it for clicks, solo, and settings.
  • Spectera antennas: antenna channels get a live amplitude-vs-frequency scan plot — inline in List View, or as a bottom bar in Grid view.
  • L6000 charger: charger cards open a telemetry bar with per-bay battery history charts, so you can review each battery’s charge curve.
  • CHG70N charger: bays are displayed as paired 2-bay cards; the number of bays is detected automatically.
  • Charger host names: click the edit control on a charger card (Edit device host name) to rename the charger inline.

Double-click any card — or hover it and click the Settings cog — to open that channel’s device settings (including Spectera device control and antenna RF settings) without leaving the Monitoring page.

These buttons appear on the Monitoring toolbar; each integration has its own setup, covered elsewhere:

  • Remote View — share live monitoring views to browsers on your network. See the Remote View guide. A chat icon also appears once remote views exist: it opens the Remote View Chat drawer, where you can message people watching your shared views (a pulsing badge signals unread messages).
  • Integrations — opens setup for audio monitoring via REAPER (solo any channel from its card, live VU metering — see the Audio Monitoring guide) and for Bitfocus Companion.

With the Companion integration enabled, you can assign any monitored channel to a Companion button slot. The slot number appears as a small “C” badge on the channel card. When assignments change, the Companion Assignment Sync dialog previews every add, remove, and update before you click Push Project to Companion. If you don’t see the Companion options, make sure you’re on the latest version of SoundBase Desktop.

The Monitoring page is a shared, project-level workspace:

  • Tabs, tab order, tab colors, card order, card positions/sizes, channel colors, and the set of monitored channels are all saved to the project and sync live to everyone in the zone.
  • Changes apply optimistically — the wall updates instantly, and if a save fails, your change reverts automatically with an error notification.

A few things stay personal to your machine: List View column visibility, your current Grid/Cards/List view mode and zoom level (per window), and the tab selected in the external monitoring window.

All my cards are dimmed and say “Offline”. SoundBase can’t reach the devices. Check that your computer is on the same control network as the receivers, and that the correct network interface is selected on the device setup page. Cards recover automatically when the devices respond again.

Meters are frozen but the app is responsive. Usually a network interruption between SoundBase and the device. Check the device’s network link; the telemetry timeline’s connect/disconnect overlay will show exactly when contact was lost.

I don’t see the Grid/Cards/List buttons (or they’re disabled). View-mode switching is available in SoundBase Desktop only. If you’re in a browser, the buttons are disabled. If you’re on Desktop and the Cards view button is missing, make sure you’re on the latest version of SoundBase Desktop.

The storage meter is red / shows close to 500 MB. You’re near the per-project telemetry cap. SoundBase automatically deletes the oldest data when the cap is exceeded, but if you want to protect recent history, free space manually: use the storage menu to delete a channel’s, device’s, or the whole project’s data, or manage all projects in My SettingsTelemetry Data. Consider exporting first via Export Data.

There’s a gap in my timeline / I can only scrub back a minute or so. The channel’s Record toggle was off during that period. Without recording, only about 1.5 minutes of telemetry is kept. Turn Record on for every channel you’ll want to review later — before the show starts.

Monitoring buttons show an italic “Pro” badge. Your account doesn’t have an active SoundBase Pro (or SE) entitlement. The badged buttons still open their setup screens, and Create Remote View from tab is disabled; monitoring changes require Pro/SE and are rejected by the server without it.

A dialog titled “Telemetry Data Update Required” appeared. Your project contains telemetry recorded by an older SoundBase version. Choose Migrate Data to convert it to the new format (a progress bar shows during migration), or Delete Old Data to discard it and start fresh (cannot be undone). Your live monitoring continues either way.

Does the timeline record audio? No. The timeline records telemetry data only — RF levels, audio meter levels, quality, battery, mute, gain, and HPF readings. It cannot play back sound. Audio recording is done through the REAPER integration (see the Audio Monitoring guide).

How far back can I scrub? For channels with Record enabled: up to 30 days (subject to the 500 MB project cap — very heavy projects may auto-trim older data sooner). For channels without recording: roughly the last 1.5 minutes.

Do my layout changes affect teammates? Yes. Tabs, card order, positions, sizes, and colors are saved to the project and sync to everyone in the zone. List View column visibility, your view mode and zoom level, and the external window’s tab selection are local to your machine; everything else syncs.

How much disk space does monitoring use? Telemetry is capped at 500 MB per project, stored locally on your machine. When the cap is hit, the oldest data is deleted automatically. You can see per-project usage and delete data in My SettingsTelemetry Data.

Can I see the monitoring wall on my phone? Yes — via Remote View, which serves live monitoring views to any browser on your network. See the Remote View guide.

Can one channel be on more than one tab? Yes. Enabling monitoring for a channel while a tab is active adds it to that tab; a channel can appear on any number of tabs, and each tab keeps its own layout.

Is the 30-day recording retention adjustable? No. Recorded channels keep 30 days of telemetry; this period is fixed in the current version.
