System requirements
Supported platforms, browsers, and languages for SoundBase in the browser and SoundBase Desktop.
SoundBase Desktop
Section titled “SoundBase Desktop”| macOS | Apple Silicon and Intel builds (separate downloads) |
| Windows | 64-bit (x64) |
| Linux | Not supported |
Notes for IT:
- macOS will ask for the Local Network permission on first run — it’s required for device discovery and control. The app is notarized and uses the hardened runtime.
- Windows requires the Microsoft Visual C++ x64 Redistributable; the installer bundles it and installs it automatically when missing.
- Updates are delivered in-app from
my.soundbase.app(see Network and ports for the full hostname list). - Wireless device control needs an IPv4 network interface on the same subnet as your devices — see the network requirements.
SoundBase in the browser
Section titled “SoundBase in the browser”SoundBase is a modern web application and runs in current versions of the major evergreen browsers — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. Keep your browser up to date; there is no support for legacy browsers.
Device control, monitoring hardware integrations, live scan devices, and telemetry recording are desktop-only capabilities — the browser app covers coordination, collaboration, and reporting. See SoundBase Desktop for the differences.
Storage
Section titled “Storage”The app itself needs a modest install footprint; the real storage variable is monitoring telemetry recording (SoundBase Desktop): recorded channel history is stored locally and kept until you delete it, bounded by free disk space — the recording UI shows usage against your disk live. Plan disk headroom on machines that record long shows.
Languages
Section titled “Languages”The interface ships in 8 languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese (Portugal), Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. Choose yours in profile settings (Editing profile settings); English is the fallback. Some languages may appear progressively as they roll out to accounts.
