Downloading & installing SoundBase Desktop

Download the desktop app for macOS or Windows, install it, and let it keep itself up to date.

  1. Go to soundbase.app/download and pick your platform:
    • macOS — separate builds for Apple Silicon and Intel; open the download and drag SoundBase Desktop to your Applications folder.
    • Windows — 64-bit installer; run it. If the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime is missing, the installer adds it automatically.
  2. Launch SoundBase Desktop and sign in with your SoundBase account (create one first — Desktop has no sign-up form). Signing in activates your license on this machine.
  3. Continue with First launch for what happens next (permissions, project types, and the initial sync).

Desktop checks for updates shortly after launch and periodically while running — updates are never installed behind your back:

  • When one is available, an Update available icon appears in the navigation bar; the dialog shows your current version, the new one, and release notes, with Install / Not now.
  • Check manually anytime from the app menu: Check for Updates….

In the browser version, a banner announces new releases: A new version of SoundBase Cloud is available — click Reload to get it. Dismissing the banner only snoozes it for 30 minutes.

macOS asks for the Local Network permission on first run (required for device discovery), and both platforms may prompt at the firewall. See Configuring ports for the how-to and Network and ports for the full technical list.
