Scan Recon uses a custom script to verify scan file integrity, with a scoring system that checks for dynamic range, resolution, and noise floor. It also cross-checks the file against its TV channels database and recommends activating or deactivating certain channels. Scan Recon not only verifies file integrity but also converts, merges, and gives a rating on every upload. It supports the most popular spectrum analyzers including Keysight, Siglent, Tektronix, TTI, TinySA, Signal Hound, RF Explorer, Shure .sbd3, Sennheiser, Wisycom, Lectrosonics, and Anritsu. User data is private and secure, and scan files are only used with user consent by TV Scout.

How does Scan Recon verify the integrity of scan uploads?
Scan Recon has a custom script that runs every time a scan file is uploaded, which gives it an overall score (users can find this within the scan details window). This scoring system checks for dynamic range, resolution, and noise floor. If the file falls below a certain threshold, it will be rejected and hidden from other users. This helps ensure that only high-quality scans are discoverable in search.
Scan Recon also cross-checks the scan file against its TV channels database. After uploading a file, Scan Recon recommends either deactivating or activating certain TV channels based on this comparison. Another threshold is set to prevent users from uploading scans in the wrong locations. While not foolproof, this system has proven its worth.
Although independent APIs, Scan Recon and TV Scout still communicate with each other. TV Scout is primarily based on FCC databases, which are not always the most accurate. Scan Recon uses real-world data to help identify discrepancies between the government databases and the real world. This helps maintain a highly accurate TV database, and Scan Recon often finds intermittent CP (Construction Permit) licenses before the FCC updates the LMS.
Data Privacy
Scan files are only discoverable and used by TV Scout when a user agrees during the upload process. All user data is private and secure.
